What is summer like in the Turks and Caicos Islands? We’ve got answers.
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a popular travel and vacation home ownership destination in the Caribbean renowned for stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, and vibrant marine life. The peak tourist season in the Turks and Caicos Islands are from December to March, within the Caribbean’s dry season. However, we’re here to spill the tea—the summer months, from June to August, are a fabulous time to visit the Turks and Caicos Islands for a multitude of reasons. Many argue that it’s the best time to visit the islands and there are a multitude of reasons for that.
Weather
During winter months in the Turks and Caicos Islands, many find that they must wear a light sweater at night, and the ocean water is cooler. However, in the summer, it’s sunny and continually warm. Temperatures during the summer months range from mid 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit (around 29-33 degrees Celsius). Winds are calmer, so outdoor dining in the evenings couldn’t be more perfect. Water temperatures are warm enough to spend the entire day in—no running in and out of the ocean to warm up between dips!
Glassy Ocean Conditions
You’ve probably seen photographs on social media of turquoise water in the Turks and Caicos Islands, water so calm and blue you can’t tell where the sea and sky part ways. Those photographs are taken during the summer months when glassy ocean surface conditions are common. This makes for easy snorkeling, perfect paddleboarding conditions, epic boating, and an all-around great time in the ocean without a single wave to contend with.

Festivals & Events
Contrary to popular belief—there is a lot happening in the Turks and Caicos Islands during the summer months, the largest event being in July. The Caribbean House Evolution Boat Party is a must-do for boating and music enthusiasts. This mega party is centered on Caribbean House music and features hundreds of boats converging on uninhabited Water Cay to cut loose and have a great time.
Fewer Crowds
Like most Caribbean islands whose visiting majorities are from the United States and Europe, the more popular time to escape to the islands is in winter months, but what that means is that the summer months have fewer crowds. You can experience the islands as they are, and you won’t find tours overbooked or restaurants at capacity. Visiting the Turks & Caicos Islands in the summer means entire stretches of white sand beaches to yourself, no lines out the door at the airport, and an overall more relaxing time.
Resort Deals
Because the islands are less crowded in the summer months, many Turks and Caicos resorts have deals and packages, making it an irresistible destination for those seeking everything that the Turks and Caicos Islands has to offer, but not at the premium rates charged during winter months. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that the summer months in the Turks and Caicos Islands falls within the Atlantic Hurricane season which runs from June 1st to November 1st. There’s always the possibility of a storm affecting the region, but should that happen, Sailrock offers peace of mind with its hurricane guarantee, meaning should a storm occur during your stay that prevents you from taking your vacation, your vacation is replaced! Additionally, the Caribbean can sometimes see sargassum seaweed during the summer months, however at Sailrock in the Turks and Caicos Islands, there are two beaches due to its unique position on the South Caicos peninsula: The Atlantic (Long Beach) and Caicos Bank (Cove Beach). If there’s ever sargassum from the Atlantic, the Cove Beach is available!
Overall, the Turks and Caicos Islands offer a delightful summer experience with warm, calm water, great resort deals, fewer crowds, and a wide range of activities to experience. Trust us, it’s our favorite time of year!
