When it comes to traveling with your family, the Turks and Caicos Islands is the perfect destination for a memorable adventure.
Pristine sand, shimmering crystal-clear water, and endless things to do—everyone in your family will be thrilled with their vacation. Plus, the Turks and Caicos Islands are just a 90-minute flight from Miami (one of many direct flights from the US and Canada) which means you don’t have to travel far for everyone to have the time of their lives.
Two families recently stayed at Sailrock Resort at Sailrock, South Caicos and were generous enough to share their experience!
FAMILY #1
Our first family hails from Toronto and they came for 4 nights with their two children, Felisha (24) and Idris (14). Parents Shaieda and Nadir chose Sailrock, South Caicos because it offers something for everyone and “it looked relaxing.” They needed a break from their hectic lives and wanted to celebrate Felisha graduating with her masters in Bio Engineering.

They chose to stay in two Ridgetop Oceanview Suites: Shaieda and Nadir stayed in a king bed on the top floor and Felisha and Idris shared twins just below them. Both suites faced the Atlantic Ocean and Nadir said that his favorite thing about Sailrock was taking in the sweeping views of the ocean from their porch. “It was the most relaxed I’ve ever been,” he said.
Shaieda woke up early for a morning yoga session with Master Yogi Mukesh and then walked the beach before returning to her suite for coffee. Her favorite activity at Sailrock was visiting the sandbar because “it’s like something out of a postcard. The sand is perfectly white, and we were the only people there. Kayaking there and then just sitting in the water, enjoying the view and the sunshine with my family is something I’ll never forget.” She even took a little bit of the sand and a few shells home with her!

Idris said that his favorite thing (aside from the food) was the boat excursion which visited Admiral’s Aquarium (a pristine reef here in the Turks & Caicos Islands), Iguana Island—where the wild iguana walk right up to you, and Starfish Garden—a place offshore and only accessible by boat where starfish dot the shallow sea floor for as far as the eye can see. “Plus,” he said, “I just really liked being out on the boat.”

Felisha said she enjoyed “absolutely everything,” but the experiences that stick out in her mind the most were a mixology session with Sailrock South Caicos team member Lalu, leaning how to sail on the Hobie cat, and trying the stand-up paddle board. “It was a lot of firsts for me,” she said. “I feel more confident now having tried new experiences, that the next time I can jump up on the paddle board, or kayak the mangroves, or sail and I won’t be too timid to give it a shot.”

The family also enjoyed a beach bonfire and s’more making session (another first for Felisha) and looking at the stars from the sun deck at night. “You can see the Milky Way,” Nadir said. “I’ve never seen it look like that before—it feels so close.”
FAMILY #2
Our second family, parents Ali & Greg along with baby Mason (15 months), hail from New York and stayed in one of Sailrock’s Three Bedroom Beachfront Villas for 6 nights. The Three Bedroom Beachfront Villas are located on Long Beach and since they’re slightly elevated, the views and direct access to the ocean are magnificent. With an open floor plan, spacious poolside terrace, fully equipped kitchen, and large bathrooms with soaking tubs, the Three Bedroom Beachfront Villas are perfect accommodations for families.

Ali said that, “This was our son Mason’s first international trip and first time on a plane. He did great!” With regards to their accommodation choice Ali added that, “Having a villa with the baby was great as we had our own space and privacy. We ate about half of our meals at the restaurants and about half at the villa. Having a villa allowed us to relax without a babysitter after Mason went to bed and during nap time. It also had a real crib which was great and helped Mason sleep 12 hours every night and take long afternoon naps.”

When choosing a resort in the Turks & Caicos Islands to book, part of the reason Ali and Greg chose Sailrock was that our reservations and concierge team were able to answer all her questions. “The whole experience from booking the trip (& answering my questions), from the travel to our stay was seamless. We loved the communication and how everyone went out of their way to make our trip special.”
As for activities Ali and Greg said that they loved “taking walks on the beach, searching for wild donkeys, swimming in the villa’s private pool, taking outdoor showers, and going to the bar on the beach for sunset.”

It’s clear from the pictures they shared with us that baby Mason had a wonderful time at Sailrock as well! As far as Turks & Caicos beaches go, the beach at The Cove is very shallow—even at high tide it’s never more than thigh-deep near the shore and always calm which makes it great for toddlers and babies to have their first beach experiences.

Ali added that, “The entire staff went above and beyond to make our trip wonderful every day. We can’t wait to come back!”
