Sweet coconut flavors and savory salt meld with lime deliciously. We use locally produced Turks and Caicos Bambarra Coconut Rum which is aged at least two years and is known for being especially smooth.
To create Sailrock’s Blue Oceans cocktail, combine 2 ounces of Bambarra Coconut Rum (or if Bambarra isn’t available near you, a coconut rum of your choice) with .5 ounces of Blue Curacao (to give the cocktail that perfect Turks and Caicos turquoise color), .5 ounces of freshly squeezed lime juice, and top it all off with coconut water which you can find in most grocery stores.
When it comes to coconut water, there are two varieties: pressed or regular. With pressed coconut water you’re going to have a cloudy look to it since it includes more of the actual coconut pulp. Pressed coconut water tastes more like you just cut the coconut open. However, if you want a more vibrantly blue drink, regular coconut water has a clearer look. Another difference between pressed and regular coconut water is that pressed contains a touch more fat, sodium, and sugar, but both pressed and regular coconut water have the same amount of potassium.
Once you’ve mixed your Blue Oceans cocktail swipe a lime wedge around the rim of your favorite glass and then dip the rim in coarse ocean salt (another nod to the beautiful seas surrounding the Turks & Caicos Islands!). Pour the Blue Oceans in and enjoy!
